This online course, developed by the Center for Government Excellence at Johns Hopkins University, will provide an introduction to advanced data analytical techniques and how they are being used in cities to improve the quality of life for residents. You will gain practical experience in scoping data science problems, applying statistical analyses, and communicating results.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the value of applied analytics in a variety of scenarios;
- Scope applied analytics projects using an inclusive and power-aware process;
- Identify opportunities to use prediction and optimization techniques;
- Recognize and account for outcome bias in data collection and algorithmic processes; and
- Advocate for opportunities to improve data-based decision making within your government.

- Your local government identifies strategic goals, aligns a diverse set of measures with those goals, and uses data to evaluate progress toward them.
